December 2nd, 2010 | Posted by admin in art | slideshow | venue

Market Project is looking forward to Colchester’s new firstsite gallery opening in September of 2011.

firstsite is Colchester’s contemporary visual arts organisation. Their mission is to make contemporary art relevant to everyone. They aim to create exhibitions that are locally relevant and internationally significant, featuring artists from the eastern region and abroad. They also deliver an extensive programme of educational activities and events, and support working artists.

  • I am an Artist currently based at Cressing Temple Barns with my husband as Custodians of the site. I am employed by Essex County Council as Visitor Centre Assistant and as an
Education Ranger with the school visits to this site. As well as Living History days I have been involved in Arts and Craft days for children and am currently running Oil Painting Workshops for adults.
I am looking forward to seeing the Firstsite Gallery up and running! I would be very interested in getting involved in the new Visual Arts Centre should you have employment vacancies or voluntary positions in the near future.
    Thank you .
    Regards Paula.

Hi Paula, you should probably try contacting Firstsite directly, I’m not sure the right people will see this. http://www.firstsite.uk.net/
    All the best.

  • We’re not a subsidiary or project of Firstsite, or of anyone else but ourselves. Our next event is there in November and we’re very excited about it, but that’s as far as it goes. We definitely don’t dictate their hiring and firing policies.

Any employment opportunities will be under JOB MARKET if they’re ours, or they’ll be in individual postings clearly labelled as such if they’re somebody else’s.
