Intern Culture brings together in one place all the research and guidance from 23 recently published reports on internships in the visual arts, published by Government, public funders, think tanks, industry bodies and artist-led groups.

It collates best practice suggestions, exposes the arguments and contradictions around internships and definitions of ‘work’ for the purposes of paying interns, and traces the history of internships in the creative sector. We hope it will also provoke debate and action around the pervasive culture of free internships and access to the sector.
