Helen Judge completed a BA in History at Auckland University in 1986. After this she worked for the New Zealand Social Services until she moved to the UK in 1991. Judge has been a practising visual artist for twelve years and currently works from a studio at Wysing Arts Centre. In 2007 Judge completed her MA in Fine Art at Central St. Martin’s College of Art and Design in London. Judge works both collaboratively and on individual projects across a variety of media including performance, sculpture, film, art happenings and the internet. She is a founding member of The Society of Xtras and a member of the experimental film group Neuf.
Exploring different places to site work has been an on going facet of Judge’s practice. This has produced opportunities to work with artists of different disciplines, such as music and theatre, and given access to different networks for collaborations. Judge has had success with community projects and exhibiting, and continues to develop skills in digital mediums, working with film and animation, and internet interventions.
